800 ton linear winch type KTC 800

KTC 800 linear winch 800 mton capacity
The KTC 800 is the most powerful linear winch operating in the world. Specially designed by Bezemer and build by Kley France this unit is used for very heavy beach pulls or other projects which require a high pull force on single wire.

This machine will accommodate wire sizes up to 152mm. Due to its large capacity also the weight of the machine is quite high, however the winch is build in 2 pieces which can be easily connected and disconnected, given a weight of less than 50 mton.

The power unit is built in two (2) separate skids, to reduce the dimensions and weights.

General description linear winch
The linear winch consists of two grippers mounted in a frame. The wire rope passes through each gripper. Each gripper is capable of holding the wire rope. The grippers move back and forth (extend and retract) through the actions of four hydraulic main cylinders. The grippers are independently controlled and their movement can be sequenced to either pull-in or payout the wire rope.

The holding action is developed by two wedges inside each gripper. If the wedges are contacting the wire rope when a load is applied to the wire rope, the wedges will clamp onto and hold the wire rope. When one gripper is pulling, the wire rope slips through the wedges of the other gripper.

Four hydraulic wedge cylinders control wedge movement. Extending the wedge cylinders closes the wedges. Retracting the wedge cylinders opens the wedges. Each pair of wedge cylinders is hydraulically connected in parallel to assure equal actuating forces.

Wire rope pull-in is accomplished manually or automatically by the control system. In both the manual and automatic mode, the #1 and #2 gripper wedges maintain in contact with the wire rope at all times.
