The First Scheldt Tunnel Element in place!

In the first weekend of July 2025, our operators have been busy on the beautiful river Scheldt in Antwerp – operating our winches to position the first tunnel element of the new Scheldt Tunnel in close cooperation with Immontec Monotoring and Engineering.

After tugs delivered the tunnel element, our mooring winches, positioned on the riverbanks, took over – maneuvering it to the exact position for submersion.

The two catamarans, Asterix and Obelix, on which our ‘submersion’ winches are located, safely lowered the element onto the riverbed. The entire operation was carried out with high precision;  the element could not deviate more than 35 millimeters from its intended position on the riverbed.
