A two drum, diesel engine powered unit, with the overwinding drums arranged in a waterfall configuration

The SKAGIT model RB-97 is a two drum, diesel engine powered unit, with the overwinding drums arranged in a waterfall configuration.

The RB-97 Drum winch is constructed with a frame made of structural steel, which is heavily braced and engineered to ensure that all shafts are supported to the load centres. This provides maximum shaft strength and rigidity, to this piece of heavy-duty machinery.

The hoist drums are arranged in a waterfall configuration, with the diesel engine and torque converter located behind the uppermost drum, on a separate power unit frame. This configuration makes the RB-97 Drum winch space-efficient making it an ideal choice for operations where space is at a premium.

Both wires can leave the winch on the front top of the drum, as is usual for waterfall winches. However, both wires can also leave the winch on the bottom, close to the deck via floating sheaves. These sheaves can be mounted in the winch frame or installed into a foundation.

One of the biggest advantages of this type of winch is that no supporting equipment is required. All that is needed is a refill with diesel fuel, and the winch is ready to go.

Performance data

Based on a line pull with a steel wire rope diameter of 50 mm

  • Pulling capacity at stall: 80 mTon
